New Kid on the Block

We had a controlled introduction of Mikki with Braun in the evening yesterday. We're starting with Braun first because based on her temperament, she should be able to accept the newcomer more easily. Yesterday, Skoda saw Mikki from under the door and hissed twice. We wanted to clip Skoda's nails after that and she was already hyped up and "beyond control" so we couldn't clip her nails.

The intro went well. No signs of aggressiveness from Braun. She was curious of Mikki but didn't approach her. While she 'sized up' Mikki, I gave her treats so that she associates Mikki with good things and to distract her. At one point, Mikki "puffed" up her body and tail, I think, as a defense mechanism against Braun - quite funny because Mikki is still quite tiny (so how 'big" can she look) and her fur is still quite thin so it looked as if there were little spikes. More hilarious was when Mikki turned around and started running in Braun's direction. Braun actually got startled and ran off in the other direction, so it was like Mikki was chasing after Braun. We immediately sprang to our feet and went after them. Some commotion there, wow! We 'teased' Braun after that for being so 'useless'. Looks like Braun is OK with Mikki. Hmmm, introducing Mikki to Skoda is not going to be this smooth.

Mikey and Mikki each weighed 250 grams at their first vet visit on 13 Nov. Today, we put Mikki on a kitchen weighing scale and she tipped 300 grams. Her putting on weight is a good sign. We thought her body looks longer so this confirmed that our eyes are not playing tricks on us.

Mikki loves to climb up and perch herself on our thighs

Told you, she is very vocal! Squeeking away like a mouse.

Always happy to see Mikki lapping up her food

Yep, Mikki has grown a little longer, no longer palm-sized
